Editorial guidelines
JournalPlus.ch stands for independent, careful and responsible journalism.
Our journalistic principles
Our reporting follows the principles of the "Declaration of the Duties and Rights of Journalists" and the guidelines of the Swiss Press Council.
We attach particular importance to:
– accuracy and careful research
– separation of fact and opinion
– transparency towards our readers
– fair presentation of differing positions
– respect for personal rights
Our contributions are based – wherever possible – on several independent sources. Sources are verified and information is critically assessed before publication.
Research and sources
JournalPlus.ch draws on a range of information sources, including:
– our own research
– official documents and statistics
– information from public authorities
– expert statements
– international news sources
– publicly accessible data
We endeavour to give preference to primary sources and to place information in context according to journalistic standards.
Corrections and transparency
If factual errors come to our attention, we correct them as promptly as possible.
Substantial changes to already published contributions are marked transparently. In the case of major revisions, a note about the change may be added at the end of the article.
Opinion, analysis and commentary
Journalistic contributions, analyses and commentary are clearly distinguished from one another.
Opinion pieces reflect the personal assessment of their respective authors and are labelled accordingly.
Handling sources and quotations
We use quotations carefully and reproduce statements in their proper context.
Anonymous sources are used only where there is an overriding public interest and the information is not otherwise accessible.
AI-assisted support
JournalPlus.ch uses modern technology and artificial intelligence as a supporting tool.
AI may be used, among other things, for:
– research support
– analysis of large volumes of information
– structuring content
– translation
– linguistic refinement
– assistance with drafting text
Artificial intelligence does not, however, replace journalistic responsibility.
Every published contribution is reviewed against our editorial quality standards. Responsibility for content, choice of sources and journalistic context lies with JournalPlus.ch.
Sponsored content and advertising
Commercial content is clearly separated from editorial contributions.
Paid content is visibly labelled as "sponsored content".
Advertising partnerships have no influence on our independent reporting. Paid links are labelled in accordance with applicable standards.
Reader and guest contributions
Guest contributions, expert contributions and partner content are labelled accordingly.
Publication takes place following review by the editorial team. There is no entitlement to publication.
Independence
JournalPlus.ch is funded through advertising, reader contributions, partnerships and possibly, in future, digital subscriptions.
Funding does not influence our editorial decisions.
Editorial content and commercial interests are kept strictly separate.
