TeleClinic to acquire Swiss provider Medi24
The DocMorris subsidiary plans to close the deal in December. Through insurance contracts, Medi24 gives more than 4.6 million people access to initial consultation.
The DocMorris subsidiary TeleClinic intends to acquire the Swiss telemedicine provider Medi24 from Allianz Partners. The group announced the transaction on 4 November 2026 and expects it to close in December. Medi24 is based in Liebefeld near Bern. Through contracts with health insurers, the company offers more than 4.6 million insured people telemedical initial access, according to the buyer.
The figure describes contractual reach, not the number of consultations actually carried out. How many insured people really use the service cannot be read from it. The distinction matters for classification: access to medical advice is not yet a consultation, and it is no evidence of additional medication sales.
A Swiss group expands through its German subsidiary
The buyer, TeleClinic, operates in Germany; the parent company DocMorris AG, by contrast, is a Swiss company headquartered in Frauenfeld and listed on the SIX. Calling the group a German mail-order pharmacy therefore falls short of its actual structure.
In the Swiss market, the name is historically linked to Zur Rose. Its Swiss business was integrated into the Migros subsidiary Medbase in 2023. Since 2025, Medbase has also offered telehealth, linked to its own practices and pharmacies. The entry via Medi24 therefore concerns telemedicine. It does not mean an announced repurchase of the former Swiss pharmacy business.
Medi24 says it has been developing its telemedical services for more than 20 years. It works not only with health insurers but also with cantons and hospitals. The company integrates its services into existing care models. For TeleClinic, the acquisition thus provides access to an already established Swiss partner network.

A low double-digit million amount for the partner network
DocMorris states a company value in the low double-digit million franc range for the transaction. It is to be financed with own funds as well as debt and equity. An exact sum is not disclosed.
The group expects Medi24 to contribute substantially to TeleClinic's operating result before interest, taxes and depreciation already in the first year. This is a company forecast. The integration of TeleClinic technology and cost synergies are meant to help. Both providers are to remain operationally independent in their home markets.
For the insured, the chosen model is decisive
The significance of initial consultation depends on the respective insurance. The Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH) describes models with restricted choice of service providers as follows: insured persons commit to consulting the contact point provided for in the model first when they have health problems. In return, insurers can offer lower premiums. The rules can also affect the choice of further service providers or the dispensing of medication.
For the 2027 premium comparison, the federal government distinguishes four categories. With TEL_DIG, first contact takes place by telephone or digitally; with PRAXIS, via a designated medical practice; and with PHARM, via a partner pharmacy. FLEX offers several possible first points of contact. However, the category alone does not describe all contractual rules.
The announced change of ownership therefore does not yet produce a new general rule for doctor visits or medication orders. Who must contact Medi24, in which cases exceptions apply and which recommendations are binding should be checked against the documents of one's own insurance model. The FOPH explicitly recommends taking the respective conditions and product descriptions into account.
Health data remains tied to its purpose
In the patient information for its virtual doctor's practice, Medi24 names Medi24 AG as the controller responsible for processing health data. The information is collected for treatment and the associated statutory obligations. Medical data would only be passed on to external third parties if this is permitted or required by law or if corresponding consent has been given.
The patient information provides, among other things, for information about and inspection of the medical history as well as the possibility of having incorrect details corrected. For data protection questions, Medi24 names its own contact point.
The Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC) also points to medical confidentiality: disclosure to third parties requires a release from confidentiality or a statutory permission. Membership of a corporate group is not in itself a blanket free pass for patient data. The purchase announcement does not describe how the announced technical integration will be concretely designed. DocMorris expects the transaction to close in December 2026.
